If you have been a sports mom for more than five minutes you already know that your car is basically a second home from August through spring.
You live in it. Your kids live in it. It has seen granola bar wrappers and muddy cleats and last minute uniform changes and more drive through bags than you would like to admit.
And if it is not stocked right it will absolutely let you down on the day you need it most.
Here is what needs to be in your car before the season starts so you are never scrambling in a parking lot at six pm wondering why you did not think of this sooner.
The Most Important
A portable phone charger that stays in the car permanently. Not one you keep taking inside. One that lives in the car. Protect it with your life.
A portable handheld vacuum. The best purchase.
A small portable fan for the hot early season games in August and September.
The Things That Save You on Specific Nights
A blanket. One good one that lives in the trunk permanently from September through November. You will think you do not need it until the one night the temperature drops twenty degrees and you are sitting in metal bleachers at eight pm wondering where your blanket is.
Multiple towels. Always useful, especially with unexpected rain and mud.
A light jacket or layer for each kid. Same logic. Weather at games is a whole thing.
Wet wipes. For hands, faces, mystery spills, and the thing your toddler just touched that you do not want to think about too hard.
Spare plastic bags. For wet clothes, muddy cleats, the uniform that needs to go straight to the wash the minute you walk in the door, and all the trash.
Hand sanitizer. Games involve a lot of surfaces and a lot of hands and you know how that goes.
If you have littles, a portable potty. Honestly, so much easier sometimes.
A small activity bag for little ones, coloring book, small toys, sticker books, anything that buys you twenty minutes of peace in the stands.
Game day is chaotic enough. Your car does not have to be.
